Please try again later. My husband was diagnosed with a severe case of type 2 diabetes a couple years ago and decided to switch to a vegan diet instead of meds. When we first switched, this and Ms. Nixon's cookbooks were our least favorite.

Because they are the healthiest lol. Our favorite was The Skinny Bitch cookbook because everything tasted good and very similar to the standard american diet that we were used to. Many, if not most, of the recipes in that book use sugar and earth balance vegan butter. We immediately found a lot of recipes in there that were our favorites and were surprised that going vegan was no big deal haha.
Fast forward down the road and once we were used to a "vegan" diet, it now became more important to us to not just eat vegan but eat healthy. We watched Forks Over Knives and similar films and decided vegan whole foods was the way to go. No more refined sugar and highly processed foods. Once we made that switch, Miss Christy Morgan and Miss Lindsay Nixon's cookbooks took top preference in our kitchen and they are now my favorite cookbooks that I have.
If you have another vegan whole foods cookbook you'd recommend, please share it with me! The thing I love most is that I know that I can pick any recipe out of Blissful Bites and it will be in line not only with my animal compassion interest, but also my health. I trust this cook book to fill my body with what's good for it.
There are many favorite recipes in here but that is always personal preference so I won't list them. If health is your goal and not just animal compassion, I think you will enjoy having this cookbook as an option on your shelf! If you live in an area that promotes this kind of lifestyle, and therefore makes unusual ingredients available in your community, you will love it even more. I don't live in this kind of a place and sometimes have a hard time finding things that the recipes call for but it hasn't been a big deal for me. I love it and am grateful Miss Morgan took the time to put it together.
And yes, like other reviewers said, they did a horrible job on the binding of this book. Most of my pages have fallen out. I'm just going to take it to a copy shop and have them stick a spiral ring binder on it so I can try and put it all back together. Cut to the chase: I love this cookbook. Morgan begins her book with helpful hints for the new vegan cook on what a well-stocked pantry looks like, tools you will need, as well as basic cooking techniques.
It is arranged by season, helping one to make seasonal choices which is very important for the environment because off season foods are usually shipped from another part of the world. She also has icons that let you know which dishes are raw, gluten-free, soy-free, low or no oil, and what can be cooked in less than 45 minutes. The index is functional.

I'm not vegan but I find myself using the recipes in here more than any other cook book. The cabbage rolls are amazing! Super simple easy to follow recipes and the way they are set up is the way every cookbook should be. In order of things going in the recipe! Highly recommend, vegan or not! Also has great health tips and cooking how tos throughout the pages. This is one of my new faves! I love that it's broken down into seasons and includes cooked and raw recipes.
It's mostly cooked and the recipes are all VERY easy!

The pictures and glossy pages are beautiful, too. The only con is that some recipes call for the soft tofu that comes in a carton and isn't refrigerated. I've always been scared of that stuff and limit my tofu intake to a once a week if that. I always used to avoid any recipes with blended tofu in them, but Christy has opened up a new door for me! She uses it for a reason I recommend this book for raw food lovers who like to eat a little more cooked food in the cooler months and anyone looking for quick, minimal ingredient, tasty vegan snacks and meals.
Received Christy's book in the middle of the week and made the vegan eggs Benedict for my 15 year old son and myself. My son loved it, so that's saying a lot. We also ate up the peanut butter mousse and ginger cookies, even my omni husband. I didn't tell him there was tofu in the mousse and he doesn't need to know.
